A slow day in La Paz: how to spend it like a local
Midday gets hot in La Paz, so do what locals do: sunrise on the Malecón, coffee in Centro, a long lunch, pool time, sunset by the water and a rooftop drink.

Midday gets hot in La Paz, and the city has its own rhythm for it. Here's how we like to spend a slow day from Colibri Guest House.
Sunrise on the Malecón
Start early, when it's cool. Walk or run the Malecón, the waterfront promenade one block from the house, as the light comes up over the bay.
Coffee and a pastry in Centro
Then breakfast at one of the cafés in Centro, all a short walk away.
A long lunch, a longer siesta
Eat well in the middle of the day, then head inside while it's hottest. Nobody will judge a nap.
Pool time
Back at the house, the pool and patio are the best place to spend the afternoon.
The Malecón at sunset
As the heat breaks, everyone heads back to the water. Sunset on the Malecón is the main event.
A drink as the lights come on
Finish with a rooftop drink or a mezcal. Our local spotlights have the places we love.
